Wine – Wineries, vineyards, wine tours!

Nelson’s wineries are known internationally and are scattered through two lovely areas, the rolling Moutere hills and the alluvial Waimea Plains. Both of these areas are within an easy drive of Ascot Lodge, giving the opportunity to sample some of the areas medal winning wines.

Nature – the outdoors and National Parks

The Nelson region has three national parks within 90 minutes of each other, with a choice of alpine, coastal or wilderness experiences. It also has two marine reserves and many more wonderful places to explore. The Abel Tasman and Heaphy tracks are must do’s for NZ and part of New Zealand’s great walks.

Bars, restaraunts and stunning seafood!

The Nelson region enjoys a mild Mediterranean-type climate with long summers, mild winters and plentiful all-year-round sunshine. It consistently rates as New Zealand’s sunniest spot! Seafood is a speciality. Scallops, fresh fish and a healthy choice of outdoor dining and entertaining venues.
